Just wrote an e-mail letter and realized that I had a link in the signature that was to this blog. Holy cow, I haven't put anything on here in over a year. I guess I was just much too busy with life. I don't often crank up the computer anymore. I get on I-pad to check facebook and keep a schedule of our doctor appointments but that is about all.
Getting this place in shape takes a great deal of my time. There is always something that needs to be done. I quit making lists. I would sit in the evening and mark off things that had been taken care of and add more things to the "TO DO LIST". Before long, I had several tablet pages yet to complete and it often seemed overwhelming.
This past 20 months seem to have flown by. Between moving in, unpacking and arranging, taking care of mom, vehicles and the property there has been little time for reflection. We have made great strides. We have an acre and a half planted in native grasses and anxiously await seeing if this experiment is going to produce results. We have also planted several trees, shrubs and flowers. The garden is ready to plant now that it looks like it may not freeze anymore. After all, it snowed on May 16th here. We have been trying to eradicate prairie dogs as they are very destructive to the pasture. Mike and I need to practice our shooting skills more as we have failed to hit very many. Poisoning them is an alternative that our neighbor the alfalfa farmer employs and wants us too as well.
As sad as this is, I have found boxes that had been packed sine my move to Goodland, Kansas from Albuquerque in October 1992. There is still a 12' X 24' shed full of boxes of stuff that needs to be sorted and either used, sold or donated as each case may warrant.
Gotta go now, things to do and sitting at a computer is not included.
